Engine displacement is calculated by finding the area of the engine cylinder bore, multiplying it by the stroke length of the crankshaft, and then multiplying the result by the number of cylinders. This gives the total volume of air displaced by all cylinders in the engine.

Example Calculation:

If we have:

  • Bore = 6 inches
  • Stroke = 3.52 inches
  • Number of cylinders = 8

Displacement=π×(6/2​)2^2×3.52×8

= 3.1416×32^2×3.52×8

=795.80 cubic inches

Final Result:

Engine Displacement = 795.80 cubic inches
